Is this the norm? How much is related to the recent storms and how much is permanent?

The beach is seriously disappointing. I can’t believe management doesn’t have their staff removing the garbage. I understand the storm debris, but there’s plenty of garbage that has been there for a long, long time. We walked the full length of the beach heading south then around the river bend into the inlet, and it is full of junk (and smells of human excrement at times). I’ve been to many resorts with full time beach cleaning crews, and now I see how bad it can get without one.

Even the sand in front of the hotel has lots of garbage in it, and there isn’t a single staff member cleaning it. Why not??? Why wouldn’t you ensure that your entire beach, across the full length of your hotel, is spotless? Labor is cheap, these rooms are not. Especially at holiday prices that begin in a few days.

The government is currently removing the big debris from the beach, but the little stuff needs human interaction, and one would assume it would be from the resort staff. Who else would care enough?

Even some areas of their property are full of garbage, such as between the building and the beach path.

Can anyone shed light on this? Are they cultural blind to the garbage? Or do they just have a mental line between land they own vs public land, that prevents them from providing guests with a clean experience?

From Google Maps, we thought we would be getting the cleanest, quietest beach in the area. Instead we got a garbage beach with heavy machinery waking us up in the morning and spewing black smoke towards our room.

Staff have been great, btw. Room is good enough.

They are a Marriott brand.
