So Shanny has been claiming she has interstitial cystitis for years and years. Long term, chronic, allegedly severe enough that she went to the ER last night for a bad flare up. Then tonight on her YouTube live she explains interstitial cystitis as cysts on the kidneys and bladder that are painful but not bad enough to be removed.

What??

That is not what interstitial cystitis is. At all. It is not kidney cysts. It is not bladder cysts. It is not a situation where doctors are like yeah you have cysts but we will just leave them there. Interstitial cystitis is a chronic bladder pain syndrome involving inflammation, nerve sensitivity, urinary frequency and urgency. Kidneys are not even part of the diagnosis.

If you have supposedly had this condition for decades, talk about it constantly, and claim flare ups bad enough to require hospital visits, how do you not know the most basic definition of the disorder you say you have? This is not some obscure medical nuance. This is day one, five minute Google level information.

This just feels like one more diagnosis she wants to add to her already long list of things she claims to have. But if you do not even understand the basics of what the condition is, it makes zero sense to keep presenting it as part of your long term medical history. You do not get to claim a chronic illness for decades and then describe it like you skimmed a random comment right before going live, or are just guessing at what it is based on the condition's name. At some point this stops being a simple misspeaking moment and starts feeling like someone building a medical narrative out of vibes instead of facts.

What makes this especially concerning is that she has a lot of young viewers who openly look to her for guidance on mental and medical health issues. When someone with that kind of audience confidently spreads incorrect information like this, it is genuinely dangerous. People take what she says seriously and may base their own understanding of real medical conditions on it.

Anyway interstitial cystitis does not mean kidney/bladder cysts. Shanny, stop spreading medical misinformation.
