How long is it safe to wait to get the LEEP?

Hi everyone. At the end of October after getting a colposcopy, my doctor told me I had level 4 legions on my cervix, so the level just below cancer. I had scheduled a LEEP for this month, but I'm starting school back up in January. This is relevant because that means I should be able to get back on Medicaid. If I were to do the LEEP this month, I would have to clear out my savings, and figured it would be a savvy move to wait a few months until I have better coverage. It would probably be February or March then.

But now I'm getting paranoid. What if that's too long to wait and it becomes cancer and spreads? My doctors and the internet agree that it takes years to develop into cancer, but I'm worried I'm an outlier. I mean, the lesions are due to HPV and I only started having sex like 1.5 years ago. So if it's gotten to this stage so fast, maybe it'll continue to progress quickly. I know it's probably all in my head but I swear I've been having cramps and pains down there and I'm so scared.

I guess I'm just looking for reassurance from people with experience. This has all been very new and overwhelming. Thank you!
