I’m turning 18 in 2 months and my parents are already fixing my marriage. I feel like my life is over before it began.

I don’t know where else to put this, so here it is.

I turn 18 in two months. Instead of planning college, friends, or literally anything normal, my parents are planning my engagement. To a 25-year-old man. They keep saying “engagement first, marriage later,” like that somehow makes it okay.

I got admission into DU. I worked for it. I dreamed about it. For me, DU wasn’t just a college it was freedom. A chance to live in a hostel, to study, to become someone who isn’t just someone’s wife. When the admission letter came, I cried. I thought maybe this would change their minds.

It didn’t.

They flat-out refused to send me. My father said if I go to Delhi, I’ll “forget my values”

I haven’t even turned 18 yet and my future is being signed away.
