Is expensive water sports equipment worth the price

Can an electric surfboard possibly justify its cost of over ten thousand dollars for recreation? I love surfing but living far from good beaches limits my opportunities to maybe twice yearly. This technology would let me surf on lakes and calm water near my home year round. But is that convenience worth more than a decent used car or significant vacation fund?
