Has anyone here dealt with someone getting held at an SoCal jail? Trying to understand the timeline
Hey everyone,
Something wild happened over the weekend and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. A family member got picked up down here in SoCal, nothing violent, just one of those things where the police decided to take them in, and suddenly we’re scrambling to figure out how this whole system actually works. I’ve lived in Southern California for most of my life, but until this point I never had to deal with the criminal system or jail at all. Half the websites I read make it sound like they’ll be out in hours, half make it sound like they’ll be there forever. I called around just to get a sense of what normally happens and it was still confusing. If anyone here’s dealt with this before, especially with the county process for release, what was your experience like? Did it take hours? A day? What actually happened once they booked the person? Just trying to get some real-world context rather than random Google results.
Thanks in advance, it’s been kind of nerve-wracking watching this unfold and I feel like the only person in the world who has no idea what comes next.
