Armenian Parents Views on Dating/Marriage

My boyfriend and I go to school together. I’m North African, he’s Armenian. We go to school in the US and majority of his family is here, but they don’t speak English. I didn’t know anything about Armenian culture before I met my bf. He also didn’t give me a heads up that his parents wouldn’t be ok with him being with someone non-Armenian/russian(I think it’s because he wasn’t sure if they would or not). Had I known I wouldn’t have entered this relationship. However, now that I’m in and really like him, I don’t know what to do. I’ve suggested ending the relationship but he keeps telling me he’ll convince his parents. He keeps going back and forth about if he can or not. He’s only talked to his mom once about it and she did NOT approve. He promised he’ll talk to her about it some more in the following weeks (winter break). I’m so worried and I’m not sure if his parents will come around. This has taken a toll on my emotionally. I’m just looking for some advice or similar stories.
