Police Verification pending/ Got call from tlocal police station

I recently changed my rented flat.The broker filed for a tenant police verification. I have rented in Delhi NCR but my hometown is in UP. I got a call from my hometown's local thana asking for few documents like adhaar and electricity bill. I asked for his id proof before giving the documents as requested. As soon as i asked for id proof he said he wont give it and his tone suddenly turned rude. I called him again so he said we will verify at our end tum araam karo in a rude tone again. I am little scared if they will disturb my old parents in my hometown. Am I overthinking?

Can people tell me the procedure for police verification of tenants?
