Question/analysis about Eraserhead and Present Mic's friendship (or EraserMic if you will):
So throughout the seasons, Eraserhead is constantly getting badly hurt because his quirk is incredibly useful against the villains. And as early as season one, we see that Present Mic is very protective of him for that reason (when Aizawa got badly hurt at the USJ.)
But I'm wondering, have we ever seen any instance of Eraserhead reciprocating this? We've seen little moments here and there of him being friendly with Mic, but I don't remember any moments where Eraser showed the same amount of care and special protectiveness towards Present Mic, his supposed best friend.
Because aside from the Shirokumo episode, Eraser doesn't really treat Mic any different than any other UA teacher. During their 'moments' together, it's mostly just Mic following Eraser around, or Mic teasing Eraser while he tolerates it. We don't really see Eraserhead initiate much.
I just kinda wish we had some sort of OVA or something that showed them just hanging out on their day off.
I don't know, hopefully someone can prove me wrong, but it seems like this friendship isn't perfect. Which is actually pretty realistic. Every friendship has flaws. My running theory is that Eraser was so traumatized by Shirokumo's death, that he started pushing people (and his friends) away. And Present Mic started shutting out his negative feelings as to try and make Eraser feel better. Because that's just Mic's nature, to be protective of his friends after one of them died.
So if I were their therapist (or if I were Ms. Counselor, hehe, now there's a callback) I would tell Shota Aizawa that he should initiate more. And I would tell Hizashi Yamada to not bottle up his negative feelings so much.
