Good enough or Nonfunctional: Wacom One 12 pen display on windows without a driver?

Purchase Advice

TLDR; I would like to use a Wacom One 12 pen display on my work computer but I'm not allowed to install any drivers. Would the pen work at all? Enough for handwritten notes or not?

Hi! I'm interested in getting a Wacom One pen display after my xp-pen pen display finally bit the dust this year. I would like to use the display at its full glory with drivers on my own computer BUT I was wondering if the display and the pen works on Windows 11 also without drivers.

I like to make handwritten notes at work and I'm not allowed to install any drivers on my work computer. It would make my life so much easier to write directly on a pen display, and I don't need anything else but the monitor + pen recognition on the pen display on my work laptop. Does anyone know if this works? Any chance that you could plug your Wacom One pen display in to a windows computer without drivers to test this out? 🙏

Background:

  • I have a pen tablet from xp-pen that works without drivers on the work computer. I don't enjoy using it for handwriting because it's so small that I have to constantly stop and scroll my OneNote page, and my writing tends to be worse than it is on paper or pen display.
  • My previous pen display (xp-pen) was just a plain monitor if I didn't install any drivers, but it was also pretty old (bought ~2019)
  • For now, I have been using Rocketbook for this issue, but taking pictures of all pages and uploading them to OneNote is a pain (I can't connect my work OneNote to the Rocketbook app so this is a manual process).
  • A standalone tablet isn't an option for me because my workplace doesn't allow me to sign in to my work account on devices that are not managed by them, and they can't start managing tablets

Anyone who could help on this? I would really appreciate it!
