It would be cool for the DU to be able to get Wilhelm 4 as Kaiser (without the republic first)

Getting rid of the monarchy would be extremely controversial and have little backing among both the german populus and most parties. Sure Wilhelm 3 himself is unpopular, but the monarchy itself as an institution would not be. I understand that the constitutional crises that happens after wilhelm 2 death is largely due to a loophole in the german constitution, that is removed with the passing of the wilhelmine constitution and thus wilhelm 3 (or any kaiser) is no threat to democracy anymore after ww2. Yet removing wilhelm the 3 in favor of his seemingly highly popular (and more pliable son, would surely have support among both the spd and the liberals, aswell as among many monarchists.
