Supporting my roommate - looking for advice & resources

Friend/Relative has a drinking problem

My roommate/ friend / ex- but still care for immensely…has an addiction problem, vape or alcohol, they can’t seem to get out of their own way and I’m at my breaking point. It started by finding bottles of Tito’s in their closet, then grey goose, and more Tito’s. Every time this happened I tore up the house locking up bottles behind alarm systems or searching their room for more. Fast forward 2 months of this and I had it. I installed a child safety tracking app that they cannot delete so I know where they go throughout the day (they agreed), they are going to virtual AA meetings but I’m concerned they get distracted halfway through. I do believe they want help but I’m running out of ways I can assist without continuously finding myself a little more broken hurt by them.

They used to drink to numb themselves to sleep so this has happened for years while knowing them but I was unaware of the problem. They say it’s not a big deal and it’s not full alcoholism but I’m done with the justification. They go to therapy but don’t share the full details at times, paint me to be the villain, and I know this is appropriate while working on accepting they have a problem but it still hurts. This is the first time I’ve dealt with this and I want to support them, but I want to protect myself as well and feel horrible that I am now in this spot.

They are starting to date someone new and are bringing them bottles of wine and enjoying this new person and I can’t feel like I’m just the cleanup crew to help hold accountability to get better while they get to go out and relax. I’m home worrying about their safety, I’m tired, wearing myself out, and they don’t seem to realize or care that they are wearing me thin. I would love any opinions or guidance.

Thanks all xoxo

Slightly broken but still good
