Meta: Do we have an update on new mods?
I realise I may be skating with rule 8, but I know others have also noted that despite a space coming up some months ago, a new moderator slot hasn't been filled. Now to preface this, I will say I 100% respect the mods, I totally appreciate that it's not their job, and they have lives and better things to do then sit around on Reddit and moderate comments. I'm just rather concerned that ongoing under-moderation has become quite an issue.
In recent weeks there have been numerous comments that have gone unremoved despite reports that I've seen directly, including a commenter talking about a Jewish politician I made a post about saying 'of course he's evil he's Jewish', a transphobic commenter denying that trans people were victims of Nazi crimes (a claim that has specifically been found to be illegal under German denial laws) are people straight up using terms like 'Jewish supremacy'.
Outside of the rampant bigotry that gets left up for weeks (or never taken down), there's also numerous examples of general rule breaking in terms of civility just going unchecked. I don't lay this all at the feet of the mods at all, but I wonder if it's time for there to be a bit of refresh (hopefully with input and discussion from users?) about what is and isn't acceptable debate, as it kind of feels like a free for all.
Also on this note - I would highly recommend everyone please report report report when you see flagrant rule breaking, because the more reports there are the more likely mods are to see it!
