Naturalization in Bayern (Kreis Freising) No
Hi everyone, I am planning to apply for German naturalization and would like to understand whether a formal language certificate is required.
My background:
-US citizen
-Living in Germany since 2010
-Studied German as a minor in college
-Came to Germany as a Fulbright scholar, where German was a requirement
-Have never taken an official integration or language course and have never needed a language certificate
-Worked full time until 2017 in a bilingual company, but am now a stay at home mother.
-Starting an Ausbildung next year, and no language certificate was required because my German was considered sufficient during the interview process
-Received permanent residency in 2017 without providing a language certificate
-Currently living in Bayern in Kreis Freising
My German is fluent for daily life and professional settings, but I do not have a B1 or B2 certificate.
Questions:
Has anyone applied for naturalization in Kreis Freising and can share their experience?
Is a language certificate strictly required, or can language ability be demonstrated in another way such as an interview, education, or work history?
Would I likely be asked to take a language test despite my background?
Thanks in advance for any insights, especially from Bavaria.
