A Nyarlathotep Question.

Spoilers for Fungi from Yuggoth and The Dreams in the Witch House, and minor spoilers for The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath.

Outside of Fungi from Yuggoth, is Nyarlathotep ever stated to be Azathoth's messenger? I've been under the assumption that in Lovecraft's later stories (Those after The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath) he shifted from focusing on Nyarlathotep's role as the Soul and Messenger of the Other Gods, to focusing on its role as the messenger of Azathoth, but while it definitely seems to be acting as the messenger of Azathoth in The Dreams in the Witch House, I can't actually think of any examples of it being called Azathoth's messenger outside of Fungi from Yuggoth.

So unless I've forgotten something, or there's something in a collaboration that I haven't read (In which case please give a spoiler warning), thanks to the fact that the line that confirmed that the daemon from Fungi from Yuggoth was Nyarlathotep was cut, there are technically no examples of it undeniably being called the messenger of Azathoth. While we can assume that despite the line being cut, the deamon was probably still intended to be Nyarlathotep, seeing as the only other evidence for that is the fact that it is the messenger of Azathoth, (Unless Nyarlathotep is called the messenger of Azathoth somewhere else) we technically have no direct evidence at all.

I doubt that Lovecraft changed his mind about the daemon being Nyarlathotep, and in The Dreams in the Witch House it definitely seems to be acting as the messenger of Azathoth, but if that connection to Azathoth isn't mentioned anywhere else, we can't be certain.
