Best Way to send a Letter to Europe

I’m in China for a few months and need to send some letters back to Europe. I’ve heard mixed things about China Post, and I was pretty shocked when I saw how expensive DHL Express is (almost $100 for a letter — WTF).

Which mail/courier services do you recommend for reliable and reasonably quick delivery? Any tips or personal experiences with shipping from China to Europe would be much appreciated!
