Nvidia driver update killed my POE2 gaming session and now trying kill my legion 7 4090,HELP!
TLDR: Updated driver messed broke my frame rate, changed some settings didn’t change anything, rolled back made things worse, and now it’s shutting off cause it’s over heating. Help!
Haven’t been playing any serious game lately, mostly Ballatro and ball x pit. Was going to play some POE2 with some friends and the game popped up saying hey listen! Go get new driver. My dum ass went and did so getting the latest and.. frame rates yo-yoing from 3-35… do some googling and find the whole delete cache folder and change the settings in nvidia control panel about setting it high performance and letting it use 100gb.
Rolled back drivers to 566.36 using Windows device manager , that made it worse by bottoming out the frame rates at 3fps. Now it doesn’t detect second monitor and over heats when plug to charger or second monitor causing shutdown down.
Was going to try ddu clearing but it prompted to try windows install first. When doing so it shut down in the middle of reinstalling 577.00 driver supposedly works with 4090. Letting cool of while I sleep and first thing I’m doing is changing safe modeing and defaulting for the high port nvidia high performance setting and bringing back down the 100gb. See if that keep it cool enough to complete driver install.
Appreciate any and all advice, tips, and experiences yall have had.
