[M4F][1x1][Discord] The pirate in the harbour and the lady on the hill.

NSFWM4F

You always wondered how your family stayed afloat. With other barons and dukes falling into poverty and disrepair left right and center, you always wondered how a family founded on a humble fishing business managed to pay their way out of every difficulty that ever came their way. Kingly assassinations, revolutions, plagues, famine, your family survived it all. Nestled onto your little coastal paradise, a hilltop estate, living an inarguably peaceful life. The only oddity in your entire upbringing was your father's strict forbearance of you ever, ever interrupting his business meetings within his study. In fact, the merchants your father met with would either enter your home from a side entrance, completely out of sight, or your father would depart to meet them in town. It was odd, but never really impeached the peace of your high life.

Then the winter came. This particular winter would go down as one of the worst for storms in recent history. Most of it went by without major issue to your family.... until you noticed your father's stress. He left home more often, returned later than usual. He received a near absurd stream of letters and sent back almost as many. One day, in the midst of a week of utter tempests, your father received a letter in the middle of dinner.... and you'd never seen the spirit drop from his eyes so viciously in an instant.

For the rest of the week he kept himself within his study. Writing letters, obsessing over his "fishing business". Eventually you simply had enough. Your curiosity of what could have possibly happened to your father's world drove you to do what you'd always been taught not to do. You got up in the middle of the night and crept to your father's study. You could hear his irritated voice going back and forth with another man.... but you decided it was time for you to know what was truly going on. You burst in and.... whatever this man was.... a merchant was not it.

Letters were tattooed over his fingers, jewelled bracelets wrapped over his wrists, his boots were so well made it seemed a shame for them to have been clearly worn near salt water. His shirt, while also of a fine make, was allowed to splay open at the chest in a way no typical gentlemen's cravat would allow. Showing off necklaces, more tattoos and a few scars. When he tilted his head of thick, jet black hair tied up into a bun to look at you, a peak of ink somewhat hidden behind his ear, his face was young but undoubtedly sun kissed and his eyes were.... absent of something. That sensitivity, desperation for comfort, tidiness that most business men hold in their eyes was absent here. The man and your father both went quiet and the strange man stood. The straining of his thick belts drew your attention to the large knives strapped to his side. The strange man gave a courteous cough and extended his hand to your father.

"It'll be a pleasure doing business with you, sir...." was all he said. Your father and the strange man silently locked eyes for what seemed like the most agonising eternity until your father returned the most flaccid, hollow hand shake. The man nodded, grabbed a leather coat a few tones too different to that of his boots that it gave off the impression that was acquired by a separate collection.... walked past you, locked his beady amber eyes with yours, nodded, and departed.

Your father stepped towards you and instead of a scorning, he gently held you by shoulders, a look of fatigue and desperation in his eyes.

"I know you have questions. I know you've always wondered what went on in here. But I must, for your safety, meet you with a new rule. No matter what, no matter your curiosities, do not, for any reason, visit our harbours alone from here on.... We have some.... new partners I'd prefer to not be alone with...."

So your father's "merchant" business partners.... were really just pirates?

Writer's Notes

Hello all! So, here we have a classic combination of those of high standing and those of.... sea level standing destined to become disgracefully involved.

While I love those romances of people breaking the typical behaviour of their station to follow their desires, knights and princesses for example, today I'd prefer to play a man who's only moral compass is that of his own making. His day to day goal isn't duty or love, it's money and the satisfaction of his accomplices. Those goals, as well as some unspecified catastrophe at sea that has put him and your father in business.

Without spoiling all of his factors but allowing you some ideas of his character, the man who just left your father's study is a representative of a larger syndicate of pirates. A smidge too young to be their ultimate leader, but influential and effective enough to have a mass of support behind him should he ever wish for more status in his less than legal world. Basically, he's the brains. The intellect these pirates need to find a new line of work that pays them generously and still allows them to maintain their freedoms. He's as much a pirate as all of them but he's not entirely unfamiliar with the world of porcelain and powder, ballrooms and carriages. He knows how to act in the world of formality.... but conjures no illusion of wanting to be one of them. As the closest thing his group has to an accountant and manager of the land bound operations, he sticks to the less harbours approachable corners of the harbours. Dwelling in debauchery and illicit transactions, his comfortable little criminal home.

What your exact dynamic with this man is is what we'll discuss in the set up. How eagerly, curiously or cautiously you approach him. How much he scares you, interests you, entices toy. Maybe you're utterly petrified and he has to make the first moves to satiate his sadistic little curiosities? Perhaps you utterly disarm him with how curious and forthcoming you are? Whatever you prefer, we can play with. Obviously things will take an intimate turn and we can discuss how slowly, quickly, dramatically or maturely, wildly or affectionately that progresses.

Your character design is also entirely up to you and I'm thoroughly excited to see what you create😇
