Website is up
This is the Facebook post that I wrote for https://web.facebook.com/intogemology
Hey everyone
A few of you might have noticed I was a bit quiet over the past few days, so here’s why…
I was busy building the landing website for Intogemology from scratch. You can check it out here https://intogemology.com/
The Blog page was updated, apart from that, there are so much to update and finish off.
While creating the digital marketing notes for the “market-inGEMS” course, I realized I was missing some very important practical aspects of digital marketing—especially things like Facebook Pixels, retargeting, and how they actually work in real life.
And the truth is… you need a website to truly understand all that.
This brought back memories of 2017, when I was involved in creating my first website for our gem lab (now defunct after the pandemic). I didn’t build it myself back then, but WordPress wasn’t unfamiliar to me. That site was very strong on the backend and database side, but UI/UX wasn’t its strongest point.
So this time, I decided to do it properly.
I spent a full month—16 sessions of 4+ hours each—under the guidance of Mr. Heshan Kathriarachchi at Industrial Development Board learning everything from domain buying and hosting to building a functional WordPress website on my own.
What I gained from going through the hassle:
• A functional website that I update daily (no, I’m not a pro web designer )
• A much deeper, practical understanding of digital marketing (it’s way more than boosting posts)
• A new level of patience—watching an instructor never leave a single student behind was inspiring
• And most importantly… a challenge from Mr. Harsha himself: to take the website to its best possible version. The reward? Let’s just say it’s very over the top. I’ll share more next month
Between November and December, my mind was constantly occupied—teaching, learning, and even traveling to Thailand for business.
But now… I feel renewed, sharper, and ready to share everything valuable I’ve learned along the way.
Looking forward to the future with a stronger curriculum and harder projects.
Please do visit intogemology.com and let me know where I can improve—it would really mean a lot.
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas
