How did you deal with the fact that you weren’t going to make a ton of money in your field?
Hey all. In my teenage years right now and coming to the realization that I need to start narrowing down what I might do for a career.
I’m in a position that I’m super grateful for where I have two sets of very successful grandparents. On my father’s side, my grandpa worked in finance and his firm sold which set him for life. And in my mother’s side, my grandpa made his own medical practice and got his fortune from that. Both uncles on my dad’s side do finance, and I see it as a very possible field for myself to go into. My dad does medicine and I’m not quite sure how I would feel about going into that line of work.
Now my main “problem” is that both uncles and both grandparents got very lucky in life and in there field of work, and I feel like I’m putting so much pressure on myself to make as much as they did.
I’m not sure what I even want to do as a job, but I keep having the reoccurring thought that I have to pick someone that will earn as much as my family has.
Did you ever put this type of pressure on yourself? How did you deal with it? Where are you now?
