Nonstop bleeding on new birth control, coming up on 2 weeks

Side effects!?

I started taking Yaz (extended) about 2 months ago by recommendation from my doctor. It’s supposed to prevent me from getting a period all together because I’ve been having irregular bleeding and severe, debilitating pain around and during my periods. But about 4 days past the window when i should have gotten my period, I started bleeding again. It’s not quite as painful as before but it’s constant and there’s quite a lot every time I check. I had been on two different birth controls prior to this (for the same issue), and my mom thinks it’s just my body adjusting to the new meds, but I’m starting to get worried. Is this a relatively common side effect of starting an extended birth control or should I contact my doctor? I don’t want to go if they’re not going to help and I should let it go away on its own, but I’m chronically ill and I have other medical issues so I might not notice if something is wrong and I don’t see someone about it.
