Is there any information available about established roles?

So, we all know that characters with an established role no longer suffer the recent role penalty for appearing in that role, but do we know if there are any more effects?

I'm currently trying to decide whether it would be worth hiring an old guy to play a criminal mastermind or to go for the young guy who is proven in that role.
