Restriction cured my picky-eating
Came across this sub on my feed, and I think my experience might help some of you. Don’t mind me, it’s 4 am.
I was a picky eater until 15, when I started counting calories. It wasn’t something extreme, I tolerated most basic foods, but wouldn’t touch veggies or fruit.
So I started counting calories because I wanted to lose some weight , and therefore I started look for low calorie high volume recipes. I found myself eating stuff I wouldn’t eat before, because I was actually hungry and there “wasn’t” other options.
Suddenly, eating some vegetables became appealing, because I’d rather eat a filled plate of something I dislike than starving after 4 high calorie nuggets!
I know some of you gag or get nauseous around some ingredients. In my case, I started with low calorie ingredients I already tolerated, like carrots, and then this made me open-minded and brave enough to try the more difficult ones. At the end I was even eating tomatoes!
I’m not restricting my intake anymore, but after this process I’m able to eat almost anything. If you try this method, I hope it helps! And if it doesn’t and you find yourself being deprived, please stop asap.
