Confused about car/mortgage loans during Chapter 7 filing

Hey everybody,

I’m hoping someone could offer me some insight on how my attorney handled my auto loan and mortgage. I just filed for Ch. 7 last week due to an overwhelming amount of unsecured debt. I’ve been current on all payments, including the unsecured debt, but I just couldn’t handle the lack of money anymore (along with hitting card limits).

My attorney said I would be able to keep my vehicle and home, due to the lack of equity in both. My question is, I looked through the petition my attorney filed and on the auto loan and mortgage, she selected to “Keep and redeem” under the Statement of Intention section. From my understanding, redeeming means to pay fair market value in one lump sum. My intention is to keep paying on both as scheduled as they’re current and in good-standing. After emailing, she said this is correct and I would pay as I am now. Is this the correct option that was filed? Thank you.
