CIEE HS Summer Abroad --- Do people usually go on trips with people they know?

Hi! I am planning on doing CIEE HS Summer Abroad, location tentative, but likely session 1. Do people normally do the program with friends, or is everyone usually by themselves and open to meeting new people? Any advice?
