Nvme incomparable with motherboard

Hey all, I bought a 4tb Samsung 990 Pro m.2 nvme drive for my current system. After installing, the drive was not appearing in bios or disk management.

Turns out my motherboard is not compatible with the nvme drive, so I am wondering if anyone has knowledge on pcie to m.2 adapter cards, if one would work for my situation, and what kind of performance loss will occur.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
