beginner question, how to harvest far away resources?

so is my first game ive made a small town and for my next step am wondering how i would go about harvesting distant resources?

i mainly wanted to harvest coal rock etc which is 500tiles away there is also these dinoris a little bit closer:
is it as imple as just building a mine or using hunt command?
should i build a hauler?
do i need to build a small town for workers to work in that location?

im just kinda looking for an idea i can work off and couldnt find any specific tutorial for this
