Guiding A Takahashi EM-11 - Best Practices and Where to Start
I have a Takahashi EM-11 with a Vixen 103 scope. I've been manually driving the thing since I got it but am now looking to at auto guiding and object following. I was wondering what the best place to start would be to keep things simple to begin with but also provide a bit of future proof planning.
Assuming you have software, the proper cable connection and alignment, you don't need a guide camera to perform GoTo capability right?
To start I'm just looking to guide for viewing - be able to hold scope alignment on an object and be able to jump to an object. In the future, I'd be looking to add a camera for imaging. What's the best way to get started that accounts for future proofing? Do I just need the appropriate serial to USB cable interface from mount to computer, then a software like Sky Safari? Or, do I need an additional interface module like a ZWO ASIair, or the likes?
TIA! There is almost too much information out there on scope setups that it all gets quite confusing.
