Launched an app that turns AI energy data into something personally useful
There’s plenty of research on AI’s energy impact, but I wanted an easy way to apply that existing data to my own usage.
So I built an app called AI Footprint that maps known AI energy and efficiency data onto real usage patterns, letting users compare impact across models and over time in a simple, personal way.
For transparency: it’s a small paid app ($4.99/year), mainly to cover ongoing updates to assumptions and data sources, as well as to help me cover the lost rideshare side-hustle income I'm losing as my passion for vibe coding takes up my time (insert smiling emoji here)!
I'd love feedback, if you're up for downloading and trying the app out:
• What would make something like this more engaging over time?
• Are there views, comparisons, or insights you’d expect but don’t see?
App site (has iOS & Android links): https://aifootprint.ai
Thanks!
