Set Roles

I started working at Morrisons a couple of months ago for replenishment. For a while I'd show up and just get told where to be or what to do by my line manager or the store manager. 2 months later and this is still the case.

Some colleagues have set aisles that they work and know what they are doing whereas 1 or 2 of us spend 10 minutes looking for someone to tell us what to do, which sometimes results in management also not knowing what they want us to do. In some cases I've had shifts start before management and looking for somebody to tell us what to do each shift is getting tiresome.

What should I do in these scenarios and is this unusual?
