Match 3 tile game help
I was following a tutorial, trying to learn how to make a match-3 puzzle game, like candy crush. I reached a point where there is a discrepancy in either his version of Godot, given that this is an older video, or my understanding of the process. I've read the documentation and understand what's causing my problem, just not how I should solve it, or even why the code works for him and not me.
The Problem: Below is the section of code giving me trouble. I'm trying to make a function that will check the tiles as they're being generated so that there are no matches. Each tile is a scene that has its color saved as a string. I know the error is telling me that comparing the object with a string is invalid, but I'm trying to get it to recognize the embedded string value in the color object. How do I go about fixing this?
