Ballpark Cost for a 160–200 Guest Wedding??

hi! we’re newly engaged and just beginning the planning process. We still need to connect with our parents to understand potential contributions (if any), but we’re hoping to get a rough idea of overall wedding costs before heading into those conversations.

Below are a few details about what we’re envisioning to help guide a ballpark estimate. Any insight based on your own experience would be greatly appreciated!!

• 160–200 guests
• December 2027 or Summer 2027, downtown Chicago venue (tbd where)
• If in December = black tie, if summer = cocktail or formal
• Willing to DIY decor/stationary where possible (I dabble in graphic design, love DIYs)
• Ceremony will be at the venue with a personal officiant
• Open bar

I know this is a wide range and that weddings with similar details can vary significantly, but even high level estimates would be incredibly helpful as we start planning. I'm looking for the cost excluding rehearsal, bachelorette, honeymoon. Solely all things related to the wedding day only (stationary/decor/rentals/dress/tux/entertainment/HMU/logistics etc).
