My girlfriend is not allowing me to like TWICE anymore....

Discussion

I’ve been thinking about whether I should post this for a while.

I started liking TWICE back in high school, during one of the lowest points in my life. I felt lost and unmotivated, and their music, spirit and smile helped me get through that time. It gave me something positive to hold onto when everything else felt heavy.

Momo is my bias. Her energy, her smile, the way she dances made me feel lighter. I used to get so excited before comebacks or concerts that I couldn’t even sleep. I even made a small cartoon-style itasha of her for my car and bring it to last Las Vegas concert, just as a personal way to show appreciation for something that meant a lot to me.

About a year ago, I started dating my current girlfriend. Since then, things slowly changed. She doesn’t like TWICE, and especially doesn’t like Momo. Whenever her name comes up, she feels jealous, and there’s always an uncomfortable or sarcastic reaction. Over time, I stopped playing TWICE’s music around her. I stopped updating my playlist. I stopped talking about something that once made me genuinely happy. But I still love TWICE, also my girlfriend.

Now when I see others going to TWICE concerts, I feel happy for them but also a little sad for myself. I miss that version of me who could enjoy something without feeling guilty or judged.

I’m not trying to choose between a relationship and a group. I just feel conflicted, and honestly a bit lost, about how something that once helped me through my darkest time became something I had to hide.
