Stop Ice Sign Spotted in Reno
Spotted and sent to us today from near the Veterans Memorial Elementary school in Reno. « I counted at least 4 that were tagged in my neighborhood, » the local writes. « Very interesting dynamic. I had not seen much activity regarding ICE until this… » Since June, ICE has shifted from mostly arresting immigrants already in local jails to tracking people down in communities, in their homes, at worksites, and in other public spaces. Nationwide, weekly ICE arrests from January to June were usually in the four thousands, before peaking to over 8,500 in early June, and then being in the 6,000 per week range in July and rising to 7,000 per week in September, according to the latest Washington Post reported numbers. Here in northern Nevada there has been very little local reporting about ICE raids beyond those that were announced by the agency itself.
