What are some "weird" assisyive tools that actually helped you?
I'm curious if anyone here has found assistive tools that sound a little odd at first, but ended up being surprisingly helpful. For example, trekking poles are usually thought of as hiking gear, but they've helped me a lot with balance and taking pressure off my knees during everyday walking. It felt a bit awkward using them outside of trails at first, but the difference was real.
Over time, I've also tried a few irregular support tools that aren't usually labeled as mobility aids. They don't replace movement or do the work for you, but they can reduce strain and make things feel more manageable on certain days.
So I'm wondering what others have discovered. Any unconventional or unexpected assistive devices that actually made daily life easier for you?
