Driver as possible malware source?

Had pc freak out (opening remote access software websites, locking keyboard and task manager, etc.) right after installing XP-Pen Star 06C driver from official website. Didn't think it could be a driver's fault, so completely formatted all discs, fresh windows install, very few trusted programs installed. After installing the same driver it happened again right after. Unplugging tablet instantly stops all that trojan voodoo happening at the moment(!). What do I even do with this?
