Girls who were “good” and obedient growing up,how did you build your personality later in life?
This question has been on my mind for a while, and I’m hoping to hear some honest experiences.
For those of you who were considered good girls growing up obedient, rule-following, people pleasing, doing what was expected, how did you eventually build your own personality, preferences, and sense of self?
I feel like I spent so much time being “well-behaved” that I never really explored what I liked. Even now, I struggle with things that seem natural to others like having a favorite music playlist(where the song hits deep), strong opinions on hobbies, or clear personal tastes. The only thing I’ve always known for sure is my favorite color.
What I notice instead is that I often absorb small traits from others. For example, for a while I genuinely enjoyed listening to BTS and watching K-dramas because people around me loved them, and I was interested for some time. But eventually it didn’t feel deeply relatable or like it truly stuck it felt temporary, like trying things on rather than discovering something rooted in me.
