Slow WiFi speeds

Firstly i want to preface this by saying that I am aware that wifi speeds are generally slower than wired speeds. I pay for 2gig dl however my wifi speeds are at MAX 250 mbps, which to me seems slower than it should. the router is 2 rooms from where I am. I cant for the life of me figure out why my speeds are so slow.

some things to note:

My router is an rt ax82u and my wifi adapter is MSI herald-BE

i did a speed test on my phone next to my pc and the router, both didnt go over 250 mbps

according to wifiinfoview, my rssi is -62, and quality is 78, for what thats worth

wired connection to pc is normal

using 802.11ax connection type

I have this feeling that something is wrong somewhere that i cant shake. Also i swear the internet speeds have been getting slower over that past couple months (but i could be just imagining things). Any insight would be helpful. thanks
