How Do You Stop Overthinking After a Connection Ends?

Mental Health

Especially for single men in their 30s who are still trying to find their person.

I recently talked to a woman I met here on Reddit. We only chatted for a few days and weeks, but the conversations went really well that I found myself constantly checking my phone for her replies. I got attached much faster than I expected, even though everything started online.

We met twice, both times very briefly and unplanned. After that, her replies slowly became dry. She stopped engaging, response times and gaps got longer, and eventually, the conversation just faded out.

I understand that this happens in dating, but I’m struggling with how to mentally deal with it. I’ve tried distracting myself by walking, air boxing, driving around, playing computer games, but none of it really worked. My mind keeps going back to the same questions: What went wrong? Did I do something wrong? Am I opening too fast?

For those who’ve experienced something similar, how do you detach and move on mentally, especially when the connection felt real even if it was short-lived?
