Today I Fucked Up
I (24F) work in Healthcare. I've been at my current company for over 3 in a half months now, so I know the ins and outs and how to do my job very well, on top of my years of experience prior to this. Today I was assigned to drinks at dinner. Basically I pour the drinks of the residents who chose to eat in their room rather than the dinning room. The co worker I got into a fight with did trayline. We'll call her Tyresha. Trayline is in charge of putting the food and drink on their trays and putting them on the carts to get ready to send out to the halls. Tyresha was doing trayline. Dinner starts at 4:00 and the way I do drinks is I count what specific drinks everyone orders and I pre pour them so it goes more smoother and faster. We were running a tad behind about 5 or 10 minutes because of a spill so, I was helping clean it up and Tyresha decided not to wait for me and mess up my entire system because she deemed I should go faster. When I got back half of the hall was done and I had asked her where the tickets were because I needed them for drinks. Right off the bat she was snippy and disrespectful. I shrugged it off and carried on. I couldn't find any ice tea so I poured apple juice for those who requested ice tea, instead. Well she decides to go find it and not tell me she found it and just let me do all the drinks wrong. I was able half way through drinks for the 3 units we have before she said anything. She then rudely yelled at me about "not giving anyone the correct drinks" when I physically did not have the tea they requested and gave them apple juice instead. She then gives me the tea that I didn't know we had and said rudely "its right here" and slams it down. I tried to calmly and professionally tell her that I didn't see it so thats why I gave them a different drink instead and she decided to say over and over in the loudest way possible "I don't give a ----" I started screaming over her because I just didn't understand why she was yelling at me. We then got into this huge fight. I was screaming so loud my throat was tired. Mind you, this was my 6th shift in a row including 3 doubles, while she only worked 3.5 hours the whole week. I was exhausted and done. After a while my other co worker closed the door to the kitchen so the residents and their family didn't hear us screaming. The second I saw her do that I realized how unprofessional I sounded so I stopped screaming and walked away but she kept at it. She would not stop screaming. I decided to do dishes instead. Fast forward to later in the night she screamed and swore at the nurses in the hall and they wrote her up. Karma is sweet. I wish I didn't lose my temper but she was really pressing my buttons. My supervisor and other co worker was on my side the whole time. They thought it was really unprofessional what she did and they don't find me at fault at all. Its so silly and I wish I never lost my temper but this is not the first incident with her that my co workers had to deal with.
