transition from a graphic worker to a graphic designer with my own brand ?

Hi, i’ve been working as a graphic “worker” for almost 5 years now, meaning i’ve mostly worked behind the scenes. Printing companies, outsourced firms, production team, etc. No social media, no personal portfolio, because i was just a worker who knew how to use the tools.

Most of the projects i worked on were team-based, so nothing really felt like “mine", i’ve also been out of work for about 4 months now, and dozens of application later, it’s forcing me to rethink everything.

I’m stuck between 2 options: should i build my own personal brand/page and reposition myself as a designer or try freelancing right now or jump ship to different industry all together lol.

atp i honestly don’t know what the right move is. Any advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation would really help.
