Boarding vs sitter

Question

I have two dogs with different reactivity issues. One (a pit mix) is dog-reactive, and the other (a JRT) is people-reactive. Traveling is very stressful for me because of this.

I’ve tried traditional boarding facilities, but they don’t work for my dogs. When I return, they are physically ill from the stress.

Having a sitter or stranger stay with them isn’t a good option either. A stranger wouldn’t be able to safely leash and walk my people-reactive dog.

I do have a friend my dogs already know. My JRT would still be stressed if he stayed in the house while I’m gone, but it might be manageable. I believe my friend could leash and walk both dogs a couple of times a day.

The other option is boarding them at my vet’s office. The dogs are familiar with the environment, though they don’t love going there. The kennels are small. On weekdays, they are let out into a fenced yard a few times a day and are never allowed to interact with other dogs. On weekends, however, a vet tech only comes by twice a day to feed them and let them out.

My upcoming trip requires me to be gone for the entire weekend, and I’m struggling to decide which option is least stressful and safest for my dogs.

Talk me through this, please. TIA.
