How can I get the smell of dog urine out of my carpets/rugs?

Got a puppy this year who unfortunately really likes to pee on carpets/rugs. Yes we do take him outside plenty but he’s young and has accidents, and we can’t use pee pads because he immediately shreds them. Now that he’s older this happens a lot less but the smell remains.

Each time he’s done it we clean it right afterwards with spray meant for pet urine. We also rented a carpet cleaner and cleaned all the carpeting with cleaner meant for urine. Sadly, my house still smells very strongly of dog pee afterwards :( is there anything else I can do?
