Help me decide what to do. Status Migrainous while on trip home for Holidays!
What started as a hormonal migraine on day 3 of my period has ballooned to a week long ordeal that doesn’t seem to be getting better.
For context: I was visiting one of my parents in one state for a week when it started, flew to the other (2.5 hour flight) 3 days into attack, now week later and still dealing with it and not seeming to go away. Home is a 6.5 hour flight home on Thursday.
My options:
-
message my neurologist at home (who I don’t love, but have gotten by with) who wouldn’t be much of a help at current moment since I am across the country. Fly home on Thursday in discomfort (assuming this migraine doesn’t end- and cross my fingers that we can try something that helps. (Don’t have much faith at all in this plan)
-
Attempt to call my past (much more trusted neuro) here in the state I currently am in and cross my fingers they would be willing to see me and possibly do a nerve block before Thursday. Not sure they would even see me, but worth a shot? I loved this neuro so much- the first doctor to take me seriously after years of basically chronic daily migraine!
-
Visit an Urgent Care. My migraines don’t seem to ever respond to throwing medications or Toradol shots so this seems like a waste of an option.
Something in me feels weird to call my old neurologist, has anyone been in a boat like this before? Thanks!
