Telltale signs of a BPD mom (or person)?

Everytime she fights with my dad (once a month, they always get back together) she'll tell us she wants to die and that she's going to kill herself because we didn't take her side on everything. I felt like an asshole but all I can think is of Livia Soprano whenever she threatens to never speak to us again or that this time she's really dying (also a fan of claiming that her health is going to kill her any second now, has been happening for the last 5 years)
Also is there a cure or am i going to be like that girl whose mother's snark comments completely broke through her defenses.
