On the 2025-2026 FAFSA form (the first one I filled out to get into college), I was able to invite both of my parents to help me report their finances. Now that I am completing the 2026-2027 form, I could only invite one person (I chose my mother); I was only asked two financial questions and my father's date of birth. The 2024 Form 1040 (the one required) was filed jointly as a married couple. Is there a way for FAFSA to know that the form was filed jointly, and is that why it only asks for one parent? Did I do something wrong, or why didn't it let me invite another parent?
