Trying to get into reading…

Hey everyone,

So I’m trying to get into reading but am finding that I have fairly specific tastes. Is there anything you can recommend? Been trying to explore mostly fantasy, but I’m not picky about genre.

What I DONT like: child protagonist, plot tropes (chosen one, enemies to lovers, etc.), internal thoughts/internal dialogue, plain prose, world building for the sake of it (explaining history, magic systems, economic systems), prose that does not progress the plot, story, or characters.

The only books I have LOVED thus far: The Witcher 1&2 (the short story collections, later ones are a step down imo), Discworld series, Coraline.

Books that were “meh”: Mistborn, Earthsea, Narnia, Elric of Melnibone (strongly disliked this one).
