Wen DF280iX running with both gas and propane hooked up?
Can't really find an answer for this anywhere for this recent model, but I know there are some Wen generators that can automatically switch from propane to gas when the propane runs out.
This does NOT appear to be one of those generators, however I can easily see a situation where switching from gas to LPG or vice versa with minimal fuss would be handy.
Even handier would be being able to switch fuels while the generator is running.
Thus the question has a few parts for anyone who's done their own experiments:
-
Would there be concerns about using it in LPG mode while the carb still has gas in it, or would the carb have to be drained for some reason? (Logically, LPG -should- skip the carb entirely, right? I'm not super familiar and haven't taken it apart and stared at the plumbing yet.)
-
When running with fuel in the tank and LPG hooked up, what would be the sequence to switch from one to the other? Is it as easy as flipping the LPG/Gas switch? Can this be done while it is running without causing a surge, drop, or stall?
-
I am also assuming (with this specific generator) it would be a supremely stupid idea to attempt to use a gas reserve to swap LPG tanks without interruption? I assume this because presumably without the auto-switchover feature, the line would still have LPG under pressure whereas a generator with the auto-switchover feature might allow this.
