What is the best way for a college student to begin learning DSA?
When starting out in Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) as a Computer Science student, I felt a lot of pressure due to the overwhelming amount of information available on different subjects through various sources online. The best way to manage this stress was to create my own structure rather than just randomly attempting to solve different problems.
I started with the simpler items such as Arrays & Strings and ensured that I had complete mastery of these basic concepts. After mastering these topics, I worked on Recursion, Linked Lists, Trees, and so forth. At the same time, I made a commitment to work on at least a few problems each day, building my skills through repetition rather than just working to collect as many problems completed.
I personally used sites such as GeeksforGeeks where they provided clear explanations and sample code to build my understanding before writing any code. I believe utilizing multiple resources allowed me to develop a strong foundation and maintain a consistent coding practice.
I encourage you to remain patient, keep track of your progress, and continue to focus on patterns rather than memorising answers.
