Why does Em hate on Encore and Relapse?
I’ve been listening to Encore and Relapse a lot lately, and I genuinely don’t get why Em hates them so much. Relapse has some of his best flows ever, and Encore has classic hits. To me, they are both pretty solid projects that don't deserve the hate.
It’s crazy how many times he has actually bashed these albums in his own lyrics. I made a list of every time he brought them up:
- Careful What You Wish For: "But Encore just didn't have the caliber to match it."
- Not Afraid: "In fact, let's be honest, that last Relapse CD was ehh... Perhaps I ran them accents into the ground."
- Talkin' 2 Myself: "Encore I was on drugs, Relapse I was flushing them out."
- Cinderella Man: "Fuck my last CD, that shit's in the trash."
- The Reunion: "Make them listen to the whole Relapse album / And then make them relive it."
What do you guys think? Does he hate the music itself, or does he just hate the memories of the drugs/addiction attached to those eras?
